Crash And Burn

I am very pleased to announce the premiere edition of Monochromia, the brainchild of Joe Giordano of The Visual Chronicle. My name is Emilio and I will be one of 7 contributors, each of us posting one day a week.  It will be a black and white only photo blog to which I have the distinction of being the first contributor by dint of a random drawing of names from a hat! If black and white photography is one of your passions, I hope we do not disappoint. If you do not particularly care for black and white photography, please give us at least a week for one of us to hopefully change your mind. The odds should be with us!

Prehistoric ?

Prehistoric

Why did the turtle cross the road ? Who the hell knows ? I thought it was interesting that he caused a traffic jam because of it. He actually stopped in the middle of the road to take a breather and see what all the commotion was about too. I hope you enjoy :)

Sagamore Hill

SagamoreOne

As most people already know Sagamore Hill was the home of Theodore Roosevelt the 26th American President. I was planning to post a series of photos of the main home but unfortunately when I arrived at Sagamore Hill I learned the main house was off limits due to extensive renovations so I had to take a photo from the only angle I could get with a telephoto lens.

SagamoreThree

This is an image of the windmill that was used to drive a steel cable that operated a pump for water delivery into the home.

SagamoreFour

Here is an image of the steel cable going through the roof of the pump house which is completely underground except for the roof.

SagamoreTwo

A copy of newspaper from May 1905 explaining how much President Roosevelt loved his Long Island home.
