This is part of the backyard and mansion at Sands Point Preserve (the whole back yard is way to big to show it covers acres and goes all the way down the cliffs to The Long Island Sound).  There is also a Castle on the grounds.  This was once the home of Henry Clay Frick, better known as the chairman of J.P. Morgans newly formed company, US Steel.  He moved from Pittsburg Pennsylvania to New York and needed a home so he bought this one.  There are countless mansions on the “Gold Coast” of Long Island.  This is now part of the Sands Point Nature Preserve.

  1. What a magnificent building. For a brief moment I thought I was looking at a regal residence in Great Britain. I saw some of these structures during a trip to Great Britain in 1980. It was an unforgettable experience. London was the crown jewel of my trip to Europe.

    • Thank you Omar it is indeed a magnificent building. The North Shore of Long island is loaded with homes like this high on the bluffs overlooking the Long Island Sound. You think with all this wealth around a little would have trickled down to me, LOL. I would love to visit the U.K. Ireland and Scotland to see some of the historic homes and castles. Have a great day :)
