Thank you Laurie 😊 Crab Meadow is in Northport and in the above photo I am facing north looking towards Connecticut. Just past the tree and sand bar in the distance is the Long Island Sound. On some days during low tide there is no water by the marsh grass and on other days like this one at high tide the whole area floods. The previous post (Crab Meadow III) is facing south and it shows how much inland the water floods during high tide.
I guess living here we take it for granted but there is a lot to love about Long Island. There are a lot of historical places as well as natural beauty in the NYS parks and arboretums. Then of course there are the Gold Coast mansions. Most of what you saw on the north shore were the calmer waters and rocky beaches along the Long Island sound but on the south shore there are the more turbulent waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the fine sand beaches.
Joe, where is Crab Meadow? It kind of looks like the water / marshland at Sagamore Hill. Beautiful series!
