How do you do this, Joe? The clarity is incredible.
When was this built? I was trying to find some history on The Pencil and if I have the right info, it was bult 85 yrs ago.
When I come up to visit ya’ll, I want to see this!
(Dontcha love that I invited myself!)
Thank you Laurie π I think you are correct about the age of the tower. I believe this was part of the build out of parks and highways by Robert Moses. He designed a lot of the roads and bridges in NY and on Long Island. The pencil appropriately sits at the end of Robert Moses Causway and the beginning of Robert Moses State Park on Fire Island. From RM State park you can walk east along the beach all the way to Kismit, Saltaire and Ocean Beach but most people take the Fire Island Ferry from Bay Shore to Ocean Beach. East of RM State park there are no vehicles allowed on Fire Island (except for police and emergency vehicles). You have to either walk or rent bicycles at Ocean Beach. I love that you invited yourself and when you do come visit Iβll show you all of these places mentioned.
Thank you, Joe. Yes, my mind is in the gutter almost constantly. I don’t know what Lynn ever saw in me. Maybe she thought she could tame me. Fat chance.

Great B&W……lots of drama going on there, in a good way! The clouds look ominous and I love the deep shadow on the side of βThe Pencilβ.
