Am I less patriotic if I don’t even own a flag? I think you agree with me by your response to Gail. Yo do not need to fly a flag to show your patriotism, but it is nice to see from time to time. Did you know there is a U. S. Flag Code that tells you when you should definitely display your flag? I would rather display it every day other than the ones they say I should. But that’s just me. I love the lighting in this photo of yours, Joe. Very nice!

    • No you are definitely not less patriotic if you don’t own a flag. There is way too much labeling going on in our country, who’s patriotic who’s not and the people who usually are quick to label know nothing about the people they are labeling. I really think it all stems from social media because it is very easy to judge someone else when you are faceless and probably not even using your real name on various sites. People should learn to talk to each other instead of texting to build their social skills. Most importantly people should learn to listen to what other people are saying (which means waiting until they finish their sentence) before firing back with their preconceived notions of the way they think it should be. Anyway thanks for the compliment Emilio and sorry I went off on a tangent 🙂

Labels are an easy- lazy- way of pigeon-holing someone. I used to be like that till I found out people were doing that to me. I try not to any more but it is a constant struggle.

  2. Have you notice how much less we see the flag displayed than when we have an emergency like 9/11? We always have the flag out – are we supposed to only be patriotic when it’s the “IN” thing to do?

    • I couldn’t agree with you more Gail 😀 if you are going to fly flags do it year round not because you feel pressured to do so by neighbors. Having said that I also respect a persons choice not to fly a flag. What really bothers me is the Facebook postings asking you to share a photo of the flag if you are patriotic, it really cheapens the meaning of our flag like sharing a photo of a pile of money and saying “if you share this wealth will come to you” ! Thanks Gail I’m done with my rant now 😀

  3. It feels so good to see the love the American people show towards their flag. The effect of the sun on the upper flag is awesome. Your “Stars and Stripes” are patriotic and aestheic at the same time. i’m sure many of your peers will love this razor sharp picture.

Thank you for sharing with us, the novice photographers.

    Bye,
