What I find captivating is the ripply texture of the ground underneath the shadow. I’m not sure I would have noticed that in the view finder of the camera!

Thank you Joanne. The texture is from beach sand on the North Shore of Long Island which has small stones in it. It is very different from the fine sand beaches of the South Shore of Long Island which is just pure sand.

Thanks – I wasn’t sure what it was. Outside of the shadow, the ground actually looked like a hard surface like asphalt but it was too uneven in the shadow … unless the contractor did a REALLY poor job of laying it 🙂
