I always like the song. There is a guy name Ralph Estes who lives in New Mexico who wrote a book called “The Autobiography of Billy the Kid.” He claims that Billy the Kid had Ralph record his Autobiography when Billy was dying of cancer in a hospital in the 1950’s or so and then Ralph stored the tapes, forgot about them and then found them recently and transcribed them into the book. It’s an interesting read, the history is excellent, but he “clears” up a few things from Billy the Kid’s perspective. I recommend the book if you are interested in the life of Billy the Kid.
