This was performed on the “America: A Tribute To Hero’s” telethon which took place on September 21, 2001 exactly ten days after the 9/11 tragedy. I hope you enjoy this special performance.

His voice is just incredible! What a beautiful performance, and sad also. The lyrics get a special, slightly different meaning after the tragedy.

Thank you Elina it was a very emotional time right after the tragedy. I was in fifth grade when the news came from the school office that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, and I never thought I would live long enough to have something as indelible burned into my mind, but yet the horrible trade center attacks are also. It’s like two points in time frozen in my memory permanently, I remember exactly where I was.

I can only imagine how tragic both of these days must have felt for you and others over there so close to it all. Even here in Europe it was hard to believe something so terrible happened, and the shock was huge. I remember getting the news about the 9/11 I was at the university then. So horrible and this really should not happen.
