Fireman’s Tournament

Every June in Fireman’s Memorial Park, Lindenhurst Long Island a Fireman’s Tournament is held with most of the Long Island Fire Departments competing for the best times.  Make no mistake these are no ordinary Fire Trucks these are full blown race vehicles. All of this happens very quickly so I thought I would do something a little different by showing you a gallery of ten images all taken with the Fuji X-T1 and 56mm f/1.2 lens in high speed continuous shutter mode (8 frames per second).  This team is the Lindenhurst Snails Drill team.  To see a sequence in real time here is a YouTube video I shot with my iPhone of a different drill team – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J59pO9Rn8sI.  Although I prefer the still images I included the video to show how fast all this happens. This is the interior of the Old South Church in Boston Massachusetts.  The church which was built in 1669 at its original location at Washington and Milk streets, and stood for 200 years before it was lovingly disassembled and moved to its current location at Copley Place, then reassembled in 1875.

Vacation Home

Vanderbilt (1 of 1)

 Nikon D300 and Nikon 12-24 mm F/4.0 Lens – 1/400 @ f/10 – ISO 200

I wish it was my vacation home but in reality this is part of the Mediterranean style summer mansion of railroad tycoon Cornelius Vanderbilt in Newport, Rhode Island.  This is a view looking out to the Long Island Sound towards Long Island.  We were with a couple of friends that day and yes that is my wife to the left giving me dirty looks because we were told no photographs.  I loved the look of the arches and and the way the light was falling on the floor, so I had to squeeze one shot off, oops :)
