Every June in Fireman’s Memorial Park, Lindenhurst Long Island a Fireman’s Tournament is held with most of the Long Island Fire Departments competing for the best times. Make no mistake these are no ordinary Fire Trucks these are full blown race vehicles. All of this happens very quickly so I thought I would do something a little different by showing you a gallery of ten images all taken with the Fuji X-T1 and 56mm f/1.2 lens in high speed continuous shutter mode (8 frames per second). This team is the Lindenhurst Snails Drill team. To see a sequence in real time here is a YouTube video I shot with my iPhone of a different drill team – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J59pO9Rn8sI. Although I prefer the still images I included the video to show how fast all this happens. To view the gallery of images please click the largest image above.
Thanks for the video link. While the video really shows the speed and action, the photos reveal the hard work and effort as evidenced by the facial expressions. Excellent comparison

Great series of images, clearly the camera is great at tracking fast moving subjects! And the video is a great inclusion – wow! How did they keep that ladder steady for the guy to climb it…..

Thank you Sue 🙂 These guys really struggle to prop the ladder up while the one guy climbs it. Most of the time the guy is halfway up the ladder before it is even leaning against the tower which shows some real trust in the guys supporting the ladder. A model in total teamwork.

Wow Joe, who knew snails could move at such speed? What a great day out, and great shots of course!

LOL thank you Patti 🙂 This was the first time I tried continuous high speed shutter mode on the X-T1 because I read that it’s not that good at tracking subjects. I guess they were wrong 🙂

Yes Joe, very wrong – those reviews can drive you nuts with the extra pernickety detail!
