Clearly, that camera just needed to be in the right hands! This is such a great image, Joe. I love that the droplets reveal the pattern of the leaves underneath.

Thank you so much Laurie 😀 I know you are probably saying “What the hell does Joe need another camera for” but I just can’t resist a good deal. I also bought a film camera at the same sale so hopefully I will be posting images from that yard sale find fairly soon (as soon as I can get them developed and scanned).

These kind of finds are few and far between Joanne usually it’s all crap they are selling 😀 Now if I could just find someone’s grandpa’s old Rolleiflex Twin Lens or even an old Rollie 35 film camera I would be very happy.

I guess that’s why I never find anything … I simply don’t have the patience to pick through a lot of junk in the hope of finding one little treasure.

I guess that’s the key – if there is something specific you are looking for, then flea markets and garage sales become hunting expeditions. That would make them so much more interesting!

OK, Joe. You’re breaking down my resolve. I might have to try macro photography one day. This is almost nice! I’m always leery of craigslist. I got burned big time once. But how can anyone ever think a camera has outlived its usefulness if it still works?

It’s beyond me why anyone would think a camera outlived it’s usefulness Emilio but perhaps they bought this one then figured they were in over their heads with all the dials and buttons. Macro is a whole new world and I think you should try it. The only problem is at the moment Fuji only makes one macro lens the 60mm f/2.4. It’s a wonderful lens but it only has a 1:2 reproduction ratio so it’s not a true 1:1 macro. I own one but I tend to use the smaller cameras such as the X20 macro modes for two reasons. The first being the lens on this camera is tack sharp (just as the lens is on the X10 and X30). The second being the small sensor affords greater depth of field for macro work. By shooting at f/5.6 on the X20 vs. f/16 or 22 with the 60mm macro I could shoot at faster shutter speeds and hand hold the camera.
