Joe I recently bought an unused copy of this camera after seeing your photos and Matteo Ceschi’s taken with this camera. I love it so far. Ive found i do not need to go above ISO 400. Ive found the monochrome Jpegs are excellent. Can you give anymore insight into using this camera. I have turned sharpness to 0. Its sharper than my 35mm F2 prime. Enjoying your blogs so much

    • Thank you very much Gill πŸ‘πŸ» I have owned pretty much every Fuji camera ever made through the years and the mighty little X30 is one of my favorites. Like you mentioned the JPEGS it produces are amazing and I mostly use mine as a monochrome camera at higher ISO’s because the noise resembles film grain. I use the camera mostly in aperture priority mode because I like to control my depth of field and set the auto ISO 1 to a maximum of 800 and auto ISO 2 to a maximum of 1600. I rarely use auto ISO 2 mode because the lens is so fast that you can still use a decent shutter speed in low light conditions. I normally use film simulation bracketing and select Standard, Monochrome + Y, and Monochrome + R. The camera is a wonderful street shooters camera because its small and not intimidating to your subject and the auto focusing is fast enough. I’m not much of a post processing type of person so I never shoot in RAW with the X30. I find that the JPEGS are flexible enough to tailor to my liking in post. I do wish Fuji still produced this camera and my only complaint is that I wish I had the black version instead of the argent (silver).

What the heck is The Oculus? The name of this building, I imagine. Where is it and what is it for. An amazing shot, Joe. The repetition in the architectural lines with the photo wall works so well together.
