      • Thank you for this tip, Joe, it’s highly appreciated. May I ask you a question, please: I have seen many captures with the Big Stopper on various blogs and many seascapes appear with a distinct blue note. Is there a secret to avoid this bluish touch?
        Best regards, Hanne

        • There is no way to avoid a color cast when shooting with any brand of 10 stop ND filter Hanne but the way I get around this is to shoot in RAW format. Since I have been shooting with Fuji’s I have been strictly a JPEG shooter except when I use the Big Stopper. The color cast can be corrected in post processing then. If you are using a traditional DSLR with an optical viewfinder you also have to make sure to cover the eyepiece when doing long exposures otherwise you will get light leaks which will ruin your image. I use mirror less cameras with electronic viewfinders so covering the eyepiece is not necessary πŸ˜€ Best of luck with your purchase and experimenting with Long exposures.

          • Once again, this was most helpful, Joe. I use a Nikon D800 and shoot only RAW and I have saved your tips in my little book of wisdom. Thanks a million! πŸ™‚

  1. Hi Joe! Your posts had stopped displaying in my reader — until I thought perhaps you had retired from blogging– so happy to find you again and catch up on all of your photographs- lovely… as always. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you very much West πŸ˜€ I didn’t retire from blogging I just decided to spread myself thin with three photoblogs which you can easily find under the TVC title (Monochromia and X-tended Vision). Sometimes these things happen on WordPress and we have to unfollow and refollow people. Thank you for the refollow and I think I will have to do the same with your blog πŸ˜€

      • So happy to hear that~ I’m going to refollow your others as well so I will be sure they appear in my feed. …I had a horrible experience last year when, during a transfer to a private host I lost my original blog so Ive started again from scratch …which may be why I was showing up… grrrr. πŸ˜€

  2. Beautiful shot! It is so perfect, I feel like I’m right there viewing it through my own eyes with one exception, I am a lot warmer her in Florida than you were while shooting it! Lol! Nice job!
