Fujifilm X30 – 1/180 @ f/2.8 – ISO 200
There it was lying upside down in the middle of the woods and nobody knows how it got there. This is the rear axle, differential gears and springs attached to a very large truck frame just left here to rust.

Fascinating (and beautiful). Looks like a truck that overturned with a heavy load and was just LEFT there, but it doesn’t look like the load is resting on the BED of a truck.

Isn’t it always a mystery as to why vehicles end up in their final resting place?
Love me some rust!

Fascinating. It’s interesting how rust brings life to old objects. It feels like a living thing.

It really does feel like a living thing Alys, I could probably go back a year from now take a photo and it would look different. Thanks and have a great day 🙂

You might want to do just that. Wouldn’t it be interesting to photograph an aging object every year or so, assuming it remained in place?

It would really be interesting to do that but I think I should have started when I was 20 years old Alys, LOL.

I’m thinking the driver of that truck went with it or had a long walk home. It has new life in your photo!

A great find. It must have been a huge truck as those axles and shock absorbers are huge.

Thank you Raewyn, it was an abnormally huge truck in the middle of nowhere, LOL.

That rear end sure has a bunch of leaf springs. I can assure you that it didn’t come from a VW bug which, if it had, would have given us a clue as to how it could have crawled there and died! Nice image.

Thank you Michael 🙂 I think it’s an old Diamond Reo and it is a very heavy duty two speed axle and springs.

How do you find these things? You are really squeezing the juice out of this baby. Great subject to shoot.
