Everything just seemed to cooperate with me today to capture this scene from the clouds to the angle of the sun on the snow. When I was photographing this scene I could not help but think of the song by The Electric Light Orchestra – “Turn To Stone”. I hope you enjoy.
Nikon D7000 and Tokina 12-24 f4.0 lens – 1/400 @ f/8.0 – 12mm focal length. A Formatt/HiTech 0.9 graduated ND filter was also used.
What do I think? I think this is one of the most amazing pictures I’ve seen in years. Everything is exactly the way it should be. The muses are very friendly with you. Great work!

Everything in this photo is perfect. The wonderful clouds, the reflection, like diamonds, on the water, the foreground with the snow and rocks, a beautiful composition and it works so well in black and white 🙂

So smooth and beautiful Joe! I love how the sunlight sparkles on the sea. And I recognize a familiar bridge in the back. 🙂 Beautiful scene!

Thank you very much Elina 😀 I knew you would recognize the bridge 😀 actually it was a very clear day and you can also just about make out the other two bridges in the photo. The second bridge is just about in the middle of the photo and the drawbridge is just to the right of it. If you Google Earth it you will see them a lot clearer (they are on the same road Robert Moses Causeway). Have a wonderful weekend 😀

Now you’ve done it! I have been complimenting my friend Mike on his approach to the processing of black and white photos and then you come along and post this. Are you two brothers or what? I can see a difference but I can’t tell which I like best.
